My dad served honorably with the 82nd Airborne Division in World War II. He survived 16 months as a prisoner of war, coming close to starving to death on what he called the 80-Day March. He has been gone from this earth for over 20 years, and there aren’t many left who can speak firsthand about those experiences.
Val Burgess is preserving their voices. She has aligned her life around this purpose, interviewing dozens of veterans and their families to keep their stories, their experiences, their lessons for all of us. We will talk with her about her journey and what led her to this work of remembering next Wednesday, 26 April, at 10 AM Eastern.
